Delicious Matzo Ball Soup Recipe

Matzo ball soup is a traditional Jewish dish that is enjoyed by many people around the world. It is a comforting and delicious soup that is perfect for chilly days. In this recipe, we will show you how to make matzo ball soup that is flavorful and easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup matzo meal
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
  • 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

To start, combine the matzo meal, eggs, vegetable oil, 1/4 cup chicken broth, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Mix well until everything is fully combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour.

While the matzo ball mixture chills, prepare the soup. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until they are soft and fragrant. Add the carrots and celery and cook for another 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.

Next, add the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer. Let it cook for 10-15 minutes until the vegetables are fully cooked. Add the shredded chicken and continue to simmer for another 5-10 minutes until the chicken is heated through.

While the soup simmers, remove the matzo ball mixture from the refrigerator. Use your hands to form small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and drop them into the soup. Cover the pot and let the matzo balls cook for 20-25 minutes until they are fully cooked and fluffy.

Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the soup hot, garnished with fresh parsley or dill.
