Bulgogi Recipe: Perfectly Grilled, Sweet and Savory Beef

If you're a fan of Korean cuisine, you've probably heard of bulgogi. This delicious dish features thinly sliced beef that's been marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, and then grilled to perfection. Here's how to make it yourself:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of beef sirloin, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

Start by mixing together the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, onion, green onions, and black pepper in a bowl. Add the sliced beef and mix well, making sure that each piece of meat is coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours for maximum flavor.

When you're ready to grill, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade and shake off any excess liquid. Grill the beef for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked to your liking. Serve hot, garnished with extra green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

For a traditional Korean meal, serve your bulgogi with rice, kimchi, and other banchan (side dishes). You can also wrap the beef in lettuce leaves, add a dollop of ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce), and enjoy it as a ssam (Korean wrap).
