Introduction
Spaghetti Bolognese is one of the most popular and classic Italian dishes. It is a hearty and flavorful meal that can be enjoyed by the whole family. This dish is made with spaghetti pasta, a rich tomato-based sauce, and ground beef. It is perfect for a cozy night in or for entertaining guests.
Ingredients
- 1 pound spaghetti pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water for the spaghetti pasta. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until it is al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it is no longer pink. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is tender and the garlic is fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, and spices. Stir to combine and bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the cooked spaghetti pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss the pasta with the sauce until it is well coated.
- Serve hot with grated parmesan cheese and garlic bread, if desired.
Tips
- For a healthier version, try using ground turkey or chicken instead of ground beef.
- To add more flavor, try adding a splash of red wine to the sauce while it simmers.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
