Ingredients:

  • 1 pound chicken wings or drumettes
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Coat the chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  3. Heat the oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350 degrees F.
  4. Carefully add the chicken to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. While the chicken is frying, make the sauce by whisking together the gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, sesame oil, and sesame seeds in a small bowl.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and pour the sauce over it. Toss to coat evenly.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.

Tips:

  • For extra crispy chicken, let the coated chicken sit in the fridge for 30 minutes before frying.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the chicken to prevent it from becoming greasy.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less gochujang and cayenne pepper to the sauce.
