Meatballs in tomato sauce with spaghetti is a classic Italian recipe that is loved by many. This hearty and delicious dish is perfect for a family dinner or a special occasion. Here's how you can make it at home.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 pound spaghetti
To start, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix well and shape the mixture into 1-inch balls.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until soft and fragrant. Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes.
While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Add the meatballs to the tomato sauce and let them simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until cooked through. Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked spaghetti.
