Ddeokbokki Hot Pot: A Spicy and Savory Korean Delight

If you're looking for a hearty and flavorful Korean dish to warm you up, Ddeokbokki hot pot is the perfect choice. This delicious hot pot is made with chewy rice cakes, fresh vegetables, and tender fish cakes, all cooked in a spicy and savory sauce. Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of Korean rice cakes
  • 1/2 pound of fish cakes
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup of sliced cabbage
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup of gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Before starting, soak the rice cakes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to soften them. Drain and set aside.

Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  3. Add the gochujang, soy sauce, and sugar. Stir well until the sauce is smooth.

  6. Simmer for another 10-15 minutes or until the rice cakes are tender and cooked through. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and drizzle with sesame oil.
