Delicious and Easy Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Teriyaki chicken is a classic Japanese dish that is loved all over the world. The sweet and savory flavors of teriyaki sauce perfectly complement the tender and juicy chicken. This recipe is quick, easy, and perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Place chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag and pour in the marinade. Seal the bag and massage it to make sure the chicken is coated with the marinade. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the chicken breasts on the sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. While the chicken is baking, pour the marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan while whisking constantly. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
  6. Brush the thickened teriyaki sauce over the cooked chicken and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot with rice and steamed vegetables.

Tips:

  • You can marinate the chicken for up to 24 hours for more flavor.
  • If you don't have rice vinegar, you can substitute it with apple cider vinegar or white vinegar.
  • You can use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts for a more tender and juicy result.
  • You can also grill the chicken instead of baking it for a smoky flavor.
