Introduction
Pho is a popular Vietnamese dish that is loved all around the world. It is a hearty noodle soup made with a beef broth, rice noodles, beef, and herbs. - 1 lb beef bones
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 ginger, sliced
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
- 3 cloves
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 8 oz rice noodles
- 1 cup bean sprouts
- 1 bunch Thai basil
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 2 limes, cut into wedges
- 3-4 jalapeno peppers, sliced
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
In the first image, you can see the beef bones in a pot with onion and ginger. This is the base for the beef broth that will be used in the Pho recipe.
The second image shows the thinly sliced beef sirloin on a plate. This beef will be added to the Pho soup just before serving.

Instructions
- Add the beef bones, onion, ginger, cinnamon stick, star anise, and cloves to a large pot. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 4-6 hours.
- Strain the broth and discard the solids. Return the broth to the pot and season with fish sauce, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Cook the rice noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Divide the cooked noodles among 4-6 bowls. Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin on top of the noodles.
- Pour the hot broth over the noodles and beef. The heat of the broth will cook the beef. Top with bean sprouts, Thai basil, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, and a squeeze of lime juice.
