Delicious Chicken Shawarma: A Middle Eastern Classic

Chicken Shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern dish that is loved for its flavorful blend of spices and tender, juicy chicken. This dish is perfect for any occasion and can be enjoyed as a hearty meal or a quick snack.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread
  • Toppings: sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce

To make the marinade, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, coriander, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.

Cut the chicken breasts into thin strips and add them to the marinade. Make sure the chicken is well-coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or overnight.

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread the chicken strips onto skewers and grill for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred.

To serve, warm the pita bread in the oven or on the grill. Fill each pita with the grilled chicken and your favorite toppings, such as sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce.

Tips:

  • If you don't have a grill, you can also cook the chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • For extra flavor, add some chopped fresh herbs, such as parsley or cilantro, to the marinade.
  • To make the chicken even more tender, add a tablespoon of plain yogurt to the marinade.
