Gyoza Recipe: Delicious Japanese Dumplings Filled with Meat or Vegetables

If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, you've probably heard of gyoza. These delicious dumplings are filled with a savory mixture of meat or vegetables and are often pan-fried or steamed. They're perfect as a snack or appetizer, and they're also great as a meal when served with rice and miso soup.

To make gyoza, you'll need the following ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground pork or chicken
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/4 cup chopped scallions
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package gyoza wrappers
  • 1/2 cup water
  • vegetable oil for frying

First, mix the ground meat, cabbage, scallions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.

To assemble the gyoza, place a wrapper in the palm of your hand and spoon a small amount of filling onto the center of the wrapper. Dip your finger in water and run it along the edge of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half and press the edges together to seal.

Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the gyoza in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the bottoms are golden brown. Add 1/2 cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid. Steam the gyoza for 5-6 minutes, until the filling is cooked through.

Remove the lid and continue cooking until all the water has evaporated. Serve the gyoza hot with soy sauce and chopped scallions on the side.

Enjoy these delicious gyoza dumplings as a snack, appetizer or meal. They're easy to make and packed with flavor!
