Spicy and Sweet Yangnyeom Chicken Recipe

If you're a fan of Korean cuisine, you've probably heard of Yangnyeom chicken. This mouth-watering dish is made by frying chicken and then coating it in a deliciously spicy and sweet sauce. Here's how to make it at home.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Begin by preparing your chicken. Cut the boneless, skinless chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces, and set them aside.

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, flour, salt, and black pepper. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Dip each chicken piece into the beaten eggs, then dredge it in the flour mixture. Fry the chicken in the hot oil, turning occasionally, until it is golden brown and cooked through. This should take about 5-6 minutes per side.

While the chicken is frying, prepare the sauce. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the gochujang, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

Once the chicken is fully cooked, transfer it to a large mixing bowl. Pour the sauce over the chicken, and toss until the chicken pieces are well-coated.

Garnish with sliced green onions, and serve hot. This spicy and sweet Yangnyeom chicken is sure to be a hit with your family and friends!
