Delicious Homemade Meatballs with Tomato Sauce Recipe

If you're looking for a hearty and satisfying meal, look no further than homemade meatballs with tomato sauce. This classic dish is perfect for a cozy night in or to impress guests with your culinary skills.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (28 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

To start, preheat your oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Next, form the mixture into 1 1/2 inch meatballs. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until browned and cooked through.

While the meatballs are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, sugar, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

Once the meatballs are fully cooked, carefully place them in the tomato sauce and stir gently to coat. Let the meatballs simmer in the sauce for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Serve the meatballs and sauce over your favorite pasta, such as spaghetti or linguine. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley, if desired.
